ARTIST PROFILE
Maureen has painted from a very young age, and studied art as an elective subject in high school, achieving honours and won her first art prize at age 15.
After leaving school, she trained as a hairdresser.
Over the years, Maureen has taught painting on a volunteer basis for a local art class, as well as designed and painted banners, backdrops and props for school, church and local musical societies. She has exhibited and sold many landscapes, still life and portraits at local art shows and galleries.
In 1995 Maureen was commissioned to paint a portrait of two artist teddy bears which began the international recognition she has today for her realistic portraits of teddy bears, dolls and gollies.

Maitland City Library, 2011 - 2016Maureen has exhibited and demonstrated at many Bear, Doll and Craft Shows in Australia and New Zealand. In more recent times Maureen has been teaching embroidery and embellishing at local Embroider's Guilds and private groups as well as having an annual solo exhibition in January at the local city Library at East Maitland.
Her original paintings and designs are reproduced as Silk prints for embroidery and embellishing, Cross Stitch kits, blank and inspirational Cards, mounted Prints and woven into a limited edition throw Rug. Her designs are widely published in Australian Craft, Embroidery and Bear and Doll Magazines.
Other original pieces include hand painted brooches, boxes, compacts, powder bowls etc.
Maureen's original paintings are finished with Neville's hand crafted timber frames.
All portraits of artist bears, dolls, and gollies are painted with permission of the designer and maker and are acknowledged.
Maureen and Neville, currently live and maintain a studio at Lochinvar, in the Hunter Valley, 2 hours north of Sydney.
